View Full Version : StreetFox Axle/wheel-Mounting Tabs - A slight design departure.

In a departure from the documented AZ design I found that choosing to have brake arms that were extended to allow the inclusion of V-Brakes (rather than calliper) meant that the wheel could not easily be removed from the mounting tab because the available lateral movement required to remove the axle from the tab was now compromised and there was interference.

So, instead of having mounting tabs with a "hole" for the axle, the bottom was cut out to form a "slot" like a conventional wheel drop-out.

Luckily, as in this specific case we chose to make the Axle-tabs 15mm thick anyway, this has not appeared to have compromised the structural integrity (as far as I can tell).
I will let you know if ever either or both my front wheels fall off when I go over a significant bump in the road. :)

Good thinking on the mod.
If you are concerned with a "drop out" condition, just make your own tabbed washer. That would give you an extra margin of safety.
