Yep, Like a kid lookin' in the candy store window...

Jump in!

Pick one and start building!

I'm moving along on my Streetfox. I'd be riding it if I'd stay off this computer!

Best place to start IMO, is to order the one or both of Brad and Kat's books on bicycle building. I have them both, and refer to them often, when dreaming of a new build. Some book stores also carry them. The first one, Bicycle Builders Bonanza has some great basic chapters on the anatomy and cutting up of old bikes for parts, welding, and general bike building. It also has plans for the Marauder, some choppers, and various and many other cool bikes. The second book, Bikes, Sooters, and Chopper Projects for the Evil Genius, has less basic information at the beginning, but detailed plans for some of the more recent projects, such as the Gladiator, SteetFox, and DeltaWolf.

Once you decide what you want to build, the downloadable plans are very nice to have on your computer with full color pictures, etc.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing...
Some of us are on here so much, it's a miracle we get ANYTHING done!

My wife is not well and we have decided to order a cheap tandem. I believe that a tandem will eliminate any fear of being left behind on a ride or not being able to finish. I ordered one a couple of weeks ago prior to the tradewinds plans being available. If we find that she can and will ride I will sell the new tandem and build a tradewinds. I already have had an offer to buy the new tandem and haven't gotten it yet. If I find that she can't or won't ride then I intend to build either a Meridian or DW. I am somewhat concerned about riding a trike on public roads and bike paths in this area are non-existant. I am leaning more towards the Meridian for a commuter but I really think the DW would be better since one is not required to take feet off of pedals at intersections. I am just concerned about the added width while in traffic.

I live in a high traffic area, and I rode a quad that was over 40 " wide, and the Streetfox I built is 42" wide. The DW is about 32" wide. You could easily make mods to make the seat higher for added safety while riding in traffic.
I also built a Meridian, which was very easy to ride in traffic. When stopped, you could easily keep one or both feet on the ground. The LWB takes some time to get used to, especially when starting, but it's a fast and comfortable bike.

I road my deltawolf today in traffic at night with no problems.
Other than a guy almost rear-ending another car in front when he almost stopped to say cool trike it was uneventful.

i am a little higher in the saddle due to a few mods.

But not that much.

I am personally more concerned about width than height. Many lanes in high traffic areas are narrow. Cagers seem to be willing to slide by a narrow 2 wheeled bicycle but they "may" get more agitated when confronted by the extra few inches required to evade a trike. This is only a concern and I have no facts or input to substanciate my concern. I know that I get more aggressive and less forgiving during rush hour. I attribute it to my competitive nature.(it is as good an excuse as any I suppose)

Dude! Put the cover of one of those kid trailers on the back of your Wolf, add a flag...the cars give you TONS of room because they think you have a kid in there! They'll hit a lone biker, but no one wants to take out a kid!!

Brad can you Photoshop that one?

My wolf is over 8 feet in length and 38 inches wide so all I know is I ride it here and haven't had any problems.

Been thinking about that kind of "defense" myself

That's pretty good, Jim. Hadn't thought of that. I'll have to keep that one in mind when I EVENTUALLY head out on the road with the Kroozer, assuming I finish it in this lifetime...

I planned on rigging it up to haul my heathen niece's around anyway, so now there'll prolly be times when I'm just pulling an empty trailer. Good tip!
