What is the top speed of the LongRanger, and what would the range be at top speed, assuming flat terrain? About how much would that range be reduced if the terrain included some small hills? What does the battery pack consist of?

Range and speed is a factor of the hubmotor and batteries you decide to choose. Mine could go 100KM at a speed of 35KM/Hour. Add many hills or headwind into the mix and your range drops quickly. On the LongRanger, my battery pack was 3x35 amp hour gel batteries in series. On the Speedster, it is 4x15 amp hour gel batteries in series. Both could climb hills that I normally would have to walk a bike up.

My motor on both is only 450 watts. Hubmotors are available up to 750 watts now, and some can be overvolted up to 96 volts.

What was the voltage on those packs? Were they 12 v each? (3x12=36volts)?

What I want to know is how long these batteries will last? if they are being used daily, charged up at night and pretty much spent each time.
Someone told me that thay have to be replaced often.

The 12 volt gell batteries will last a few years of daily running if not abused. Don't kill them dry and charge right after use.

If you plan on running every day, then lithium packs start to look more affordable. For my use (a few times a week), lithium packs of equal watt hours are way out of my budget.

A few YEARS??
What a deal, I was thinking a few MONTHS. DEFINATELY worth the effort then.
