I am working on the headsets of my SF and I want to know where I can get some new headsets so they will match.

If anyone knows where I can buy them or if someone has a matching pair I will buy them as well.

It depends on the size of the tube. There are a couple of different 1" tubes, as well as 1 1/8" tubes.

Will look in my boxes tommorow I got like 15 or 20.
Will see if any of them match up.
If so I may just toss em to ya for shipping.
DOn't think I am building anything that will need matching headtubes.

Thanks for looking!

I believe they are standard 1 inch threads. I'll get my micrometer out and measure and get back to you.

Since you want them to match and said "new" I assume you are talking about buying both the tube and the guts. They are available from frame building suppliers, but are pretty expensive that way, compared to hacking them from old bikes.

I don't need them new if I can get a matching set. I just figured if I can't get them used I would buy a set new and figured you guys would know where to get the best prices.

Not all 1" headsets are the same. I have some that have cups too large, and race with ID's that are too small for a mountain/road bike headtube. I've been told they're for a BMX 1" headtube. They were very inexpensive, but I had to find BMX donors for the head and steering tubes. Both sizes are inexpensive, but you have to shop around to find them. here are some links:

Do you need the tubes and the headsets or just the headsets.
Cause I think I got 2 tubes that are from same bicycle, had 2 bikes that were same brandand style.

New headsets are cheap also about 10 bucks from novasupply.

Let me know.

They're $6 for the 22.1 mm and $7 for the 21.1 mm at bicycledesigners.com

Sorry for not getting back to you guys sooner. I was preparing my students for their Black Belt testing.

I finally got around to taking some measurements. First off I don't get the 21 and 22 mm measurments come from?

The diameter of the threaded portion of the fork is 1"

The external diameter of the bearing cups on one is 1.7" or 43.49 mm and the other is 1.6" and 41.41mm.

The external diameter of the inner flange area that contacts the head tube is 1.3" or 33.48mm and the other one is 1.28" or 32.62mm.

Big difference between the two. The nut at the top is interchangeble but the bearing cups and bearings are not.

If you guys can help that would be great! otherwise I may have to scrounge around some more. I will try to get some pics posted later of my progress later when the sun comes out.

Remove the race, and measure the ID.

After reading the other recent post on headsets I believe I need the BMX style headsets.

Who has the best prices on them?

Oops. I was wrong. Measure the inside diameter of the steering tube. It should be either 21.1mm or 22.1 mm.
