I scanned through the plans and didnt see any measurements for how high the seat will be from the ground on 20" wheels. I am 6'2" and am thinking of using 26" wheel will that be too high. I want to be as high as pos so traffic will see me.

Would the LR be to unstable if I used 26" wheels i have seen more 26" than 20" and I heard that with 26" you have a wider aray of the number of gears you can use.
I got my Moms approval to make the bikes when I told her I am quitting smoking so I can have the money to buy material, bikes a welder and all the other things Ill need for these bikes. I just know Ill fall in love with them. I was raised in a cabinet shop and my dad was a welder truck drriver and was known for being able to build anyhting so hopefully some of that rubbed off on me.

I cannot guarante that the LodeRunner would be safe with 26 inch wheels. Because of the load carrying abilities, you would need to rethink the hub design and look for very strong 36 spoke rims. With 26 inch rear wheels you will also throw away most of the hill climbing ability with any cargo onboard.
Now that I have given my "waranty void" speech, let me say that it can be done if you know what you are doing! Just be very careful with wheel choice. Those beefy looking 26 utility wheels that many hardware stores sell are not going to cut it here.

I was going to put 26" on but I reminded myself that I wouldnt fiddle with the plans until after my first build so ill collect the bigger wheels for another time and find some 20"ers.
Think about reading my blog the adress is

That will let evryone know why I am so ecited about getting a bike and some more freedom.
Brad thanks for the rleply it helped me decide and not do something stupid my first try out

Since I am going to build me my dream bike I think I should know how bikes work. Any suggestions on books to read to learn how gears work.
speaking of gears if I get a set of gears from a 26 inch bike could I use them on a 20" loderunner. If not why collect any other size of bike. dont get me wrong I love collecting stuff that I can make some thing from but I dont have much space to store so I only want to collect what I can use.
I have started a blog. It will be about my adventure building one of these really cool bikes or maybe more than one here is the address it might clear up some comments I make.

I would kinda like a motor to help me on my off days or any big hills that come up do the scooter plans show you to put an assist motor on your bike. meaning that I would pedal most of the time but would kick ing the assist when needed?

I will chime in here.
Great place to learn about working on bikes.
I would suggest any one become familiar with the intricate workings of bicycles.
I't isn't hard to do and most stuff will become self-apparent.
With that said go here and watch these video's a LOT.]
