I'm lookin' for a couple of those "Mongoose Team Issue" tires, 20", with the flame tread pattern.
I have 2 on the rear of my KC frame, but one is kinda worn, obviously the rear tire, skidded out by some kid,
so I'd like to replace that one & get one for the front as well.
They're made by Kenda, & have the words "Mongoose Team Issue" in yellow letters on the sidewall.
I think they're only available on new, Mongoose 20" bikes.
Anybody have any they'd be willing to sell or trade? Or can anyone point me to where I can get 'em?
I've tried all of the usual sources, even e-Bay, but no luck so far...

pittsburgh Craigslist has a listing for two tires fitting the description you gave. The ad is about a month old so you may be able to score rather cheaply
Thanx, Papa. I checked it out. Not a very good pic, though. I'm gonna e-mail the guy with a couple of questions.
Never used Craigslist before, not sure how it works. Just contacting someone & sending them the money seems risky to me, though.

Craigs list is pretty good, but usually it's for local pickup. At least there are no fees involved, but you get what you get.

I bought my '86 suburban a couple of weeks ago from an ad on Craigslist. I've also sold a number of things and bought a number of smaller items such as bike stands, bike parts, things of that nature. I've sold more than I've bought really.

I have bought and sold a lot of stuff on CL. So far its all been things that were under a few hundred dollars. I have always been pleased with it. Of course I require cash for all sales, and pay cash for buys after inspecting the merchandise. Its pretty hard to go wrong with that system.

I ...and pay cash for buys after inspecting the merchandise.
You mean they send you the stuff BEFORE you pay for it?

No sending involved on CL - its all local, or its supposed to be. I do sometimes search for things nationally on CL, but have never bought anything outside about a 10 mile radius to my house and would be hesitant to do so.
That was the great thing about eBay in the old days. You could pretty well figure that someone with a high positive rating was ok - then the scammers got involved.

I bought my current truck (1995 Ford F250, 7.3L TDI, 5-speed, 4x4) off CL for $4400 a couple weeks ago. I bought my wife's current daily driver (1989 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, 4.0L EFI, auto, 4x4) for $1600 a couple years ago. I've gotten bikes for cheap or free on there, motorcycles and parts, all sorts of stuff. I sold my entire almost-completely-complete set of Stephen King/Richard Bachmann books on there last year.
The whole deal is, it HAS to be local. I don't know anyone on CL who'd ship; if they wanted to pay for shipping, they'd sell on ebay. CL is about the best compromise between ebay and Freecycle; when you want SOME money for it (or maybe not), but you don't want to ship it.
Now, if you know someone who's in the area where you find the item, and THEY don't mind buying them for you and shipping them to you, then you're all set. ;)

I'd ship anything that the CL buyer was willing to pay shipping and handling on, as long as I get my money up front.
I used to sell a lot of things on eBay, but they got way too greedy with their fees, and CL is free. It is difficult to find a good deal on eBay anymore, partly because of the exorbitant listing fees. If its something that really needs national exposure, such as a very rare item, I might still go with eBay. Most heavy things are far better sold on CL, since shipping them is often not cost-effective.
Interestingly the guy I do a commercial website for lists rare cars on eBay, but almost never sells them that way. He mostly uses eBay because it is a cheap way to get national advertising and generates a lot of phone calls which do generate sales.

I don't know about other areas, but there was a problem recently here on Long Island. An ad for a BMW or Porche was posted on CL for a very low price, cash only, and when buyers showed up, they were robbed. They were smart enough to just bring enough cash for a deposit, so the plan for the crooks wasn't as lucrative as they thought. They were caught after two robberies.
It's hard for me to get around, so if I see something on CL real cheap, I'll offer to pay extra for delivery. I bought two twenty inch bikes recently that were advertised for $25 each, or $40 for both. Both are six speed bikes with 3 pc. cranks. I offered $60 if he could deliver them from 5 miles away. He said no, and was rather nasty about it, so I asked for his address and said maybe a friend could take me there. About a week later, the guy called back and said he could deliver them. If he hadn't been so nasty, I would have bought them. I said I didn't need them anymore. The next garbage night, my buddy went by and saw the bikes in the trash. He grabbed them for me.
