A design I have thinking about is a motorbike using square tubing (easier to work with). The wheels for this project would be the super-duty Worksman bicycle wheels. These front and rear 26" bicycle wheels have thick, wide alloy rims, humungous 11 gauge stainless steel spokes, and moped drum brakes (far superior to Sturmey-Archer). The engine would be a 6.5 HP Clone engine like the one that can often be bought on Harbor Freight Tools for $129 on sale ( a very, very good engine) and a Comet...

TerraTrike Rover Clone

Posted 08-19-2010 at 10:53 AM by Dave442

Physics & Function Fun

"when you push on the right pedal the front wheel will tend to go left
and when you push on the left pedal the front wheel will tend to go right.
"
With a hand-cycle, both hands turn at the same time at the same point on the circle. There wouldn't be any of the side forces you describe.
