    My advice...

    1) Loose the green pulley completely.
    2) Add a few more links to your chain.
    3) Do not remove the large black pulley, perhaps even add a larger one.

    You could also weld a bolt at the end of the axle, and have your drill turn it while you hold the sandpaper loop.
    I did this technique to machine a Jeep axle when I was hand cutting a spline....

    Yes, most likely this aging, cobbled together forum install is heading towards implosion!
    I will probably end up just leaving it as an archive and starting something from scratch....
