    Re: Ed's 'StreetRunner' Quad Build

That looks like a permanent magnet motor, so you will get some parasitic drag when it is freewheeling.
The driven sprocket in the picture does looks like a freewheel sprocket, so that kit is set.

    Re: Shrinkable StreetFox

I have tried the extremely laid back position, but my back, neck, and abs did not like it!

Congrats. sounds like a great deal for both of you.
  6. Re: calling all you engineer types ? 9mm axle loading ?

Less than 1/2 of your weight will be shared by the two rear wheels, whereas with a Tadpole during straight ahead braking your whole weight can be on the two front wheels, and and even worse during...

    Re: Brake caliper recommendations

What not to buy: unmarked non-brand calipers!!!

I bought mine from a scooter parts store, thinking "if they are good enough for a scooter they should be excellent for a bike."
    In hind-sight I...

    Re: Brake caliper recommendations

I have some cheap disc calipers and they suck!!
But, I have heard that the more expensive ones work almost as good as the old fashion rim brakes.
If you want to stay with discs, you could upgrade...

    Re: Ed's 'StreetRunner' Quad Build

Could you mount the spring on top of the frame tongue instead of below it?

That is the most important thing to get close to specs!!!

All the other specs can be changed as much as needed to suit your uniqueness.

    Re: Bike for heavier people

If you go with a Tadpole, I suggest using the rear wheel from a light motorcycle.

You could drive the second freewheel with an electric--compressed air--Hamster in a cage--or-steam engine.

    Re: Mag wheels

Any BMX bike wheel with the thick axle (14mm-9/16inch) will work.

Call the local Boy Scouts and ask if anyone has an old wheel.
Police stations often have a pile of abandoned items, sometimes BMX...
