    If you mounted in reverse, the angled arms would want to "wind" the assembly towards the center, which would be a bad situation.

    My advice...

    1) Loose the green pulley completely.
    2) Add a few more links to your chain.
    3) Do not remove the large black pulley, perhaps even add a larger one.
