I agree friction is best if you can get it to work, and work it !

The Python can still change gear with over 1/4" [ 6mm ] of ' slack ' in the cable , that would cripple any Index shifting system.

I only adjust the cable when fitting a new one every year at the spring refurbishment , other wise fit and forget.
