    Hi Emma

Above link do NOT have photos attached when I look at it, tried 2 different browsers on my mac, but no photos.

Some older threads of mine also have some photos left.

    It's all a bit weird.

    Hi Emma

    No photo in thread #20.

It seems to make a different if you look at your own thread, very strange

I have pictures in this old thread #12 http://forum.atomiczombie.com/showth...ect?highlight=

but not in the later ones.

    Guy's & Gal's

It might make a difference if the photo's were uploaded via postimage.org,
or another host, i.e, Imageshack, tinypics, etc.

    Those may still work.
    Enjoy

    I don't believe it !

    I got a response from postimage.org

    Here it is;

    Hello, ed jackman

postimg.org domain is locked by Registry, no prior notice.
Please update image links and replace "postimg.org" to "postimg.cc"
Easy way is update database or use search&replace plugins. Please ask forum admins to do it.

    Best regards,
    Postimage support

Emma, is what they say above, what you were referring too?

The only way to correct the thread problem would be if Brad could open the limited edit facilities,
but this would take months of "uploading and editing to recover a few of the photos "

" my take was that communally each of us could redirect our photos if we were allowed to but this will take considerable time"

I really don't know what their corrective action really entails.
Is it as simple as changing from postimage.org, to postimg.CC in the database, and all is well, or does it have to be done for 'every photo'?

I'm still not satisfied by their response, of just re-sending their previous notice.

Well I can view images in a roundabout way.
    I use firefox: Tools.page info>media.
Then I looked down until I found a postimg.org link.
Copy and paste to new tab and alter .com to.cc
    Click and image shows.

    Hardly convenient though.

Incidentally if I tried to open the .org link I got a security warning and Firefox refused to open it.

To be fair, Postimage has NOT "lost" any of our photos. They just are no longer reference-able in our old posts as the domain has changed.
So to complain about a "free" service is a bit rich (IMHO).
There is not a lot Postimage can do about it they had to move their business to a new domain due to pressure from their previous domain host.
They are correct that a global search & replace within the AZ content records would resolve the issue everyone is experiencing, but it is probably not something Brad has the time to do right now.
Similarly, I don't want to go trawling through every post I have ever made on the AZ forum looking for "Postimage.org" and manually altering it.

Its a new development, no-one has died and photo's are still available at the postimage source.

I'm going to take a "chill-pill" and not let it spoil my day.
    Regards,
    Dan.

Global Search and Replace is the answer. Can be automated with HTML Editing software if the source code is available. Could also enjoy a cup of coffee while doing it.

Does anyone actually know if pictures were stored in Cloud storage , my Broadband supplier gives me some for free , they can be used for these forum pages ?

Thus not depending on a third party to host my pictures ?

    OP-ED

As a former business owner, 'quality service' was what kept us ahead of the competition.

And whether that 'service' is 'free' or paid for, if it is offered to the public,
it should still maintain the same level of quality .

Postimage.org has yet (to my knowledge) apologized, for the loss of service regarding photo retrieval.

It is a shame this was brought down to the personal level. But it was.
So if anyone finds this to be too 'rich', then I am one very wealthy man.

This will be my last post on this subject, however here is my reply to the postimage.org reply.

Your reply comes as a complete surprise.

Yet, I find your answer is still totally without merit.
Still no apology, from anyone in the postimage.org organizantion.
All you have done is re-send virtually the same original message.

I'm sure all of you are IT experts and can solve most any problem, that may creep into your computers.
Many if not most of the users in the 'real world' are not experts.

As most business failures, I don't expect your business to tell, us your customers, the truth about what is 'really' the issue.
And to suggest that I, as a customer, or our forum admin, should solve/correct the problem, is bad customer service.

I was a loyal customer, and though the service that you offered me, was free, it was a service which you, guaranteed.
A service that still required the same quality service, as any other service.
You have failed in that guarantee, and failed me as a loyal customer.

Oh Ed' I fear that I have offended you, and it was not my intention to do so at all. So, please accept a humble apology from me if (as I perceive) this is the case.
I wasn't intending to single anyone one out for any form of criticism, but on re-reading it, I can see how it can be seen that way and I certainly didn't intend any personal insult/affront.
Our individual views are equally worthy of both consideration and respect, and it was not my intent to be bad mannered (it is not my way at all).
For my part, while the loss of working links in our historic posts is an annoyance, it isn't the end of the world. AZ admins and or DB administrators can resolve this in the fullness of time and all will be well again.

    Best Wishes.
    Regards,
    Dan.
