Hello fellow AZ's, been awhile, but I am back at finishing up my Aurora delta for my wife. I posted on my seat mesh, which ended up turning out pretty good . . .how it holds up is yet to be seen. My next challenge with the seat was the ability to adjust it in every which way but loose! I have ridden recumbents for several years now, including trikes and LWB, but my wife is completely new to it and she is almost certainly going to go through several rounds of "it just doesn't feel right" and "it feels funny" and so on and so forth . . ..I am prepared!

So, this I what I have come up with for a fully adjustable seat that I can move for her any way she wants (up/down, fore/aft, tilt). This is just the temp attachment that I have given the bounce test on and made her get in it and bounce on it quite a bit so I could see it move/flex. Held up pretty good! I went with the hell for stout BMX stem and used a fully adjustable stem for the front mount.

The mounts for the stems are race car frame mounts (1.5") and I modified them a bit to be flat on top and welded sections of 1 1/8" steerer tube to the mount. These are STOUT and will not move, and surprisingly are not too heavy. The 3/8" bolts/nuts will get replaced with bushings and lighter 1/4" bolts on final assembly.

The other thing to do to the frame is to cut out the EMT tubing and weld in a couple proper diameter handle bar cross section pieces to make the stems even more rigid and eliminate the tendency to rotate (try to). I picked these up fairly cheap from Solid Bike Company. Great frame products including awesome headtubes of all sizes and styles. Here's a link, http://solidbikes.bigcartel.com/. I also have to mount two tabs on the back of the seat for the rear adjustable support.

Next steps are to get these welded up, fit the rear support bracket and then clean up the welds and paint the seat and reinstall the mesh.

Then on to the adjustable steering . . . . I will post that in the steering threads if anyone is interested. I hope this might help anyone considering an alternative to mounting a mesh seat . . . .more to follow!
