Default Re: New Project

The biggest problem I have with the tadpole, is getting on and off due to the crossmember. I sat on it and held one of the 24" forks with a wheel mounted, and found that if the back of the wheel is 10-12" in front of the seat, using a Hammerhead type setup for the front wheels, the crossmember and tie rods are high enough so my knees clear when pedaling. So, by using the same design as the Streetfox for the rear and main boom, and the Hammerhead setup attached to a pilot steering tube like the DR, Meridian, etc., I'll be able to get on and off just like the DR, and have a fully suspended tadpole to boot. The length won't change, since the wheels will be in about the same position as they are now. With the larger wheels and full suspension, it should have a smoother ride. I'll stick with the boat seat, which will keep the weight down. With the design I had originally, the trike would have weighed well over 100 lbs. With the new design, it will still weigh close to 100lbs. when bracing for the outer head tubes is added. If things stop coming up, I hope to start on this project before the snow comes.
