    Self aligning bearings help needed

Here is the best hammer I could find for this problem. Paul's nature won't allow him to use it though. :)

Quad pedal race car - refurbish and improvement [ I hope ]

Paul knows that my view is to cut the back-end off and make just a new back-end and weld that to the rest of the frame. I think this would count as "a sympathetic restoration". ;-)

Quad pedal race car - refurbish and improvement [ I hope ]

Gosh! Look at all those acres of space in that large uncluttered workroom; there are even clear patches of floor! Sheer luxury that is. ;)

I am doing a little "Happy Dance" :ROFLMAO: because the lathe rev-counter is working 100%. The item bought from Amazon came in a box with "Zero/Zilch/Denada" info as to "how". I've been struggling all day with ferrite noise suppressors etc. etc. all to no avail. :-( Then I did a google search...

A big disappointment was the Tachometer for the lathe spindle. I tried everything I could think of to improve it, but it just would not give reliable and stable results. So it has been returned to the seller. :( A new "mains-powered" one has been ordered in its place. Hopefully, this one will...

The new belt (smaller of the 2 that I selected) was a pretty snug fit and I managed the job all on my own by putting one foot on the motor and shifting all my weight to that leg while I did one bolt up a bit. Swapped my weight to the other end of the motor and repeated the same thing. Then...

Quad pedal race car - refurbish and improvement [ I hope ]

With it out of the way and disconnected from the half-shafts, do the wheels and shafts now spin freely? Did you say "one-side" was harder to rotate than the other? I can't see anything wrong with it from the photo's. Didn't the previous owner say it had not been ridden since the Diff was added?

Lathe is all back together and is "sweet as"..... :D The missing RPM's have returned now a new smaller and non-slipping belt is on. Control-box built as per someone else's picture (plagiarism is flattery really....Honest!). Mine is less profeshernul than wot the one I copied is. Mainly...

Another approach to making tadpole steering tubes

Nice job! Very elegant. Yup MIG is very much "spray it on" to whatever depth thickness you wish. Though I use TIG currently I bought a very cheap Inverter MIG just because I can. :) It is yet to be fired up though. ;)

    Build a recumbent seat?

If you can bend, fishmouth and weld EMT tubing there are detailed plans available for a seat. I have a PDF somewhere with all the details. I found it online, I am sure you can still download it. https://sites.google.com/site/recycledrecumbents/seat-frame-construction

Update: The T-Link belt that drives the spindle is probably OK, but I have ordered a Chinesium one anyway (£48). There is/was an issue where the bull-wheel and pulley were not properly connected and only "stiction" was imparting drive to the spindle. I worked the mechanism backwards & forwards a...

I didn't let the blue smoke out and the jury-rigged VFD & Motor worked fine. :) However, it's not a working machine because the final drive belt (the T-link one) just slips as soon as any load is placed on the system. :( As everything is driven off the spindle through gears any application of...

Motor is back today. :) It is now wired up for 230v Delta and has been tested by the rework shop. Struggled to get the motor back on its hanging bracket and I am not sure the replacement belt I bought will be tight enough. I measured the outer circumference of the old belt and ordered that...

That was my initial thought, but I don't have the tap to make the required thread in a blank bit of steel. So I took the "alter what you have" option instead. :)

    Arriving Soon.

Today the Machifit AXA wedge style Quick Change toolpost that I ordered for the new lathe arrived. :) Shock-Horror! This thing is a beast, the baseplate is 12mm thick and 63mm square with the post screwed into it. The T-slot on the Boxford is only about 40mm wide so I cut 2 x 12mm strips off...

I‘m really having issues tracking down front wheels for a Streetfox

I used 20mm precision tube as the axle with a bolt through it to hold the wheel on the tube. It worked fine. :)
