Interesting B/W film of bicycles maybe 50's Denmark ?

Coaster brakes definitely. They were super common on the first freewheeling ("coasting") bikes and rod brakes / rim brakes came later on. Their popularity stuck for city riding and this shows to this day in places such as Denmark and the Netherlands. The first bikes had no brakes at all but were...

Peerless 100 Differential Axle for my peditruck

I took them out to Wheelcraft to see what Al reckoned. He cut slightly longer (and better quality) spokes for me and let me build them in his workshop - worked out great! My friend has the axle at the moment to mill the keyway on so can't try them on it yet. Super chuffed that Al was so...

Peerless 100 Differential Axle for my peditruck

Tried lacing up the wheels tonight. I'm pretty alright at wheelbuilding but I can't get these to lace up properly. I think it's the hub flanges, they're too thick. Possibly need modification by another machinist, or as a workaround I think I should be able to lace them radially.

Peerless 100 Differential Axle for my peditruck

Hm? I cut it. The back end will be welded on to the front with two 45° pieces, so there's space in the middle for the transfer hub and differential to mount (like any other rear triangle!). Check my top-down view from a couple posts back.

    Flex Hones

Oh, looks like even amazon is dispatching from the US. Still not sure if it's worth it, I can press a headset into my rough unfinished head tubes no problem anyway, but could give me some peace of mind.

    Flex Hones

Has anyone used one of these Flex Hones / ball hones / ball reamers on bike projects? Looks like a cheaper alternative to a fancy head tube reamer. I don't normally buy from amazon but they seem to be the only ones with a 1 3/8" (which would do an EC34 headset) it in stock in the UK...

Peerless 100 Differential Axle for my peditruck

Top tube and bottom bracket shell welded in. I think that should be the most complicated part! Undercarriage is just a couple simple mitres. I'm just super pleased to be out of the "amassing parts and telling everyone about the project" phase, and into the "getting on with the darned project"...

Peerless 100 Differential Axle for my peditruck

Looks like I've now got access to a MIG welder and a nice cozy workshop inside a shipping container now at the place I volunteer, but all my steel is at home so I'll probably still be working out the back for now. Going to start renting a garage or workshop space hopefully down the line.

Peerless 100 Differential Axle for my peditruck

So today was the first clear day in a while that I've not been busy or exhausted! Between temperamental Scottish weather and volunteering I've started doing recently, there's not been a lot of these. Like the first ground stones laid for a building, I got out the back and did the first few...

    Differential for trike/quads

Thanks, I've seen staton and actually mentioned them in my own thread about the build: https://www.atomiczombie.com/forum/threads/peerless-100-differential-axle-for-my-peditruck.766/#post-12281 Issue is they're in the US while I'm in the UK and their parts aren't quite designed to work with...

Peerless 100 Differential Axle for my peditruck

I managed to get a moment (just a moment) to go out the back and work today. Drilled some holes This is a nifty trick to make 4 identical parts. I welded them all together at the corners and will cut/drill them all as one part. I used spray glue to attach the printed template to the steel...

I just found this guy selling the mid-drive disc adapters - among other really cool sh!t! Wish I had seen this before ordering one for twice the price from maxpro that isn't even that well made, tbh. https://www.bikepunx.com/iso-disc-mount-to-104-bcd-adapter-1105-p.asp
