I considered a PTO actually, but currently lack any implements that require it.
If I did add one, it would go like this...
Take another car diff, probably a smaller one and cut one axle off.
Weld the side with the axle missing so only one side turns now.
Place that end with the flange out back and drive the diff with a smaller electric motor (maybe 2-4 hp).
The entire PTO assembly could even be trailer mounted so it is just another implement itself.
Oh yeah, I know that one well!
Rented this huge towable auger one time here, and it jammed every 2 inches due to this land being pure red clay with golf ball sized rocks. At one point I was hanging from the lever, digging for 10 seconds, then using a scraper on the blades for 20 seconds. Took 12 hours to dig 10 holes!
I use a shovel now. It never jams up, and my arms get a free workout.
Had The Mule out yesterday and took some videos...
It was great to see it loaded with many hundred pounds of wet wood and the log splitter, which didn't even slow it down as it drove out of the wet ground and up the massive hill.
That hill is a lot steeper than it looks in the video. In the winter, trucks have to get speed just to make it.
So far I haven't been able to even stress this iron workhorse!
