Nostalgia isnt what it used to be,
remember when you dialled a number and a real voice told you they were connecting you

My cozy little nook in the corner!
I went back to the old "flip phone". Surprising that's still even possible. I'm glad, though! Nice & simple!
Flip it open, it comes on, no stupid passcode to enter or anything. Push real buttons to dial, no touch-screen crap.
Flip it open to answer a call, flip it closed to end a call. Nice & simple, just the way I like it!
Even at that, it rarely even gets turned on.

Looking to possibly replace postimage.org with another hosting site.

Oh! What a GREAT DAY !!!!!
I'm one happy camper this morning.

I have... through dogged determination, and just plain dumb luck, restored all the 'Postimg.org'
photos in my archived, Inferno and StreetRunner threads.

I haven't checked or restored any other threads just yet,
but these two were my main focus anyway.

I discovered a Chrome Extension, called.... Switcheroo Redirector.
I downloaded it and entered, From - 'postimg.org' to 'postimg.cc', and voila, all the missing pictures in both threads are back.

I also downloaded "Redirector', to my FireFox. But haven't used it yet.

I had to check one more time, before I posted this,
just to make sure I wasn't dreaming.
Yup, they are all there. Check'em out and see.

If only I could sing...

The only downside is that it only works for you.
The upside is that "maybe" you can right click to actually save your images finally.

I tried a few things in the old forum to mess with the database, but it groaned and creaked like an old Russian nuclear sub trying to dive beyond the limits. I hope to keep the old forum online for at least the rest of this year, so I don't want to disturb it too much!

You will need to post a link so I can try.
There are a lot of threads with your name, some work, some do not.

One thing to note is that a Firefox extension works ONLY on your computer.
You are just telling your browser to substitute the domain name.
It will not work for anyone else unless they also download and install that exact extension.

Brad

Do you mean that when you open the thread, the photo's aren't visible to you?

If that's so...I'm deflated...๐Ÿ˜ž

This is the link where I found the thread, with all the postimg.org url's.
When I click on 'View Full Version', it opens with all photo's view-able.

This is the link it directs me too, and shows the thread with virtually all photos restored.

Yes, it is the same....

The absolutely ONLY way you are going to fix this is by altering the database code in my forum.
I would say don't bother, as it is slated for retirement by 2020 (if it stays working that long).

The ONLY way to move those photos is to right click and save every single one to your computer and then upload them again to a more reliable image host, like Flickr for example.

Assume that postimg.cc will screw you over again. It's free, so they are probably just getting users back onboard for the big hijack again.

On the bright side, your Firefox redirector may make it easier for you to download all of your images, sort, and rename them to your computer.

Sorry 'bout the bad news.

Another test with 'imgbb',

The simplicity of postimage.org, is why I like it so much.
I have noticed others using imgbb, and thought I would give it a try.

It to seems to be one of the simpler, direct methods I've tried.

Examples of how it worked.....for me.

No setting up an account, to obtain the results posted below.
After uploading my photo of choice, I was given the below choices.
The results for each choice are as follows.

Using Viewer links

<a href="https://ibb.co/kXNw3Vn"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/Hq5bNLv/DSCN3327.jpg" alt="DSCN3327" border="0"></a>

Using HTML thumbnail linked

<a href="https://ibb.co/kXNw3Vn"><img src="https://i.ibb.co/kXNw3Vn/DSCN3327.jpg" alt="DSCN3327" border="0"></a>

Using BBCode full linked

Using BBCode thumbnail linked

All choices ( except BBCode ) requires the viewer to click on the link, to view/enlarge the photo.

Using the BBCode, you have a choice of thumbnail, or full size, and is viewed directly in the post.
Both of these choices, allow the viewer, to click on the photo, to view a larger size.

Does this mean there will be no access after that ?

The ONLY way to move those photos is to right click and save every single one to your computer and then upload them again to a more reliable image host, like Flickr for example.
I still have all the photos on my computer. I just didn't know what photos were used, in each of the posts.

Sorry 'bout the bad news.
Just to be clear in 'my mind'. Does that mean that all the threads in the archived site, will no longer be accessible, or even exist?

My reason is, to save some of the threads for my own personal use.

The answer is yes to all of those questions.

The old forum is ancient technology that barely works on this modern hosting. It has a lot of duct tape holding it together! Currently, it is hogging 90% of the bandwidth and storage space (due to photos being posted in the forum) on this new hosting , so I will probably delete it if it gets any worse.

I almost pulled the plug on it 2 months ago... actually had my hand on the delete key (not kidding).
Anyhow, I could go on and on about how much hassle it was getting it off the old host and back on this one, but I would prefer to block those memories from my head for all time.

So yes... if you want anything off the forum that lives here, get it while you can...

That old forum is on thin ice and borrowed time.

Update to my Unlucky #13 post.

Ref: My unresponsive Tablet.

I found that by using my Logitech wireless mouse, I am able to use the tablet.

Haven't found out why the 'touch screen' won't work, but at least with the wireless mouse,
I know the tablet is still working, and I am able to get to all my files, etc.
